Why you probably don’t need suppliers
Horse will import all of the vendors from your Shopify account. This means that your Shopify product vendor field is the primary way to create sets of products with which you can make Purchase Orders.
What do suppliers do?
Suppliers give you a way to create custom sets of variants when making purchase orders.
- Why you might want to make a supplier: Sometimes you may wish to use the vendor field as your product’s brand. Other times you might buy the same product from multiple suppliers.
Other nice features of Suppliers are that you can assign to your variants a:
- Supplier SKUs that may different from your internal SKUs
- Supplier costs that are different from your internal costs
- Minimum order quantities (MOQ). This is helpful when making purchase orders.
- Pack size. Pack size is how many units of your product come in a “pack” or “case”. Usually you can only order your variants in cases of a defined size. For example, you may have to order t-shirts from your supplier in boxes of 10.
You can also assign to your supplier an:
- Email: Used for Purchase Order PDF exporting.
- Delivery lead days: Used as a default arrival date when creating a purchase order.
How
The first step in crafting a purchase order is to add variants to it.
